Queen Elizabeth II was a remarkable woman and as tribute to her service we wanted to share some interesting facts about her life.

Queen Elizabeth II is the longest reigning monarch in Britain

Queen Elizabeth II was coronated in 1952 at the age of 25. Her reign lasted 70 years which is 7 years longer than her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria whose reign lasted 63 years.

As Queen, She was served by 16 Australian Prime Ministers

From Robert Menzies to Anthony Albanese Queen Elizabeth has been served by 16 Prime Ministers in her time.

Six Prime Ministers were born during the Queen’s reign and came to serve office.

Queen Elizabeth II was the first female member of the royal family to serve in the military

During World War II the then Princess Elizabeth volunteered as a truck driver and mechanic in the Auxiliary Territorial Service. She is the first Female member of the Royal Family to serve in the military during a time of war.

The Queen owned over 30 Corgi dogs in her lifetime

During her reign, the queen has been said to own over 30 Corgis. She is also credited with inventing the Dorgi breed which is a cross between a Corgi and a Dachshund.

The Queen is the only person who was allowed to drive a car in the UK without a license

Even in her later years, the Queen continued to drive herself.

Queen Elizabeth had two birthdays

Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday was on April 21st but she celebrated her official birthday fell on the second Saturday of June. This was done because the weather in April (in the UK) is one of the colder months. In June there is a chance that the weather is warmer for the birthday parade.
